MU Online Season 5 Guide

Quests, sets and Medusa · 2009 – 2010

Season 5 is where MU stopped leaving you to work it out alone. The quest window was rebuilt with tabs and a reward panel, Shadow Phantom members in every town started handing out quests, a tutorial greeted new characters, and random repeatable and event-map quests followed. Around that: four hunting grounds expanded, Medusa arrived in the Swamp of Calmness, and twelve class set items were added.

The rebuilt quest window

The quest window now carries tabs, requirements and a reward panel.

The old quest window was replaced with one that actually tells you what you are doing. It opens with T and carries three tabs plus a full readout of whatever quest you have selected.

Shadow Phantom quests and the tutorial

Taking a quest from a Shadow Phantom Unit member in Mu Online Season 5
Shadow Phantom members now hand out quests as well as buffs.

The Shadow Phantom Unit members standing in every village stopped being buff dispensers only. Talk to one and the window lists the quests your character can take right now, shows what each mission asks for, and gives you the dialogue options to accept or refuse.

#What it is
1The NPC's conversation text
2The attack / defence enhancement buffs Shadow Phantom members always gave
3The list of quests currently available to your character
4The mission description of the selected quest
5Your character's name and the conversation with the NPC

The tutorial quest prompt on a new character's first login in Mu Online
The Character (C) button flashes on your first login.

Brand new characters get a tutorial quest on their first login. The Character (C) button at the bottom right of the screen flashes; click it and the tutorial begins. It walks you through the basics of MU rather than dropping you into Lorencia with no instructions — the first step is simply opening your own character window, and it pays 100 experience for doing it.

Random repeatable and event map quests

Part 4 added two more quest types on top of the story and class-change lines.

Quest typeHow it works
Random Repeatable QuestA quest is handed out at random according to your character's level bracket, and the reward is drawn at random too — so the same bracket can be farmed repeatedly for different outcomes.
Event Map QuestAn extra mission tied to an event map. Complete the mission while running the event and you collect a reward on top of the map's own rewards.

The patch note announces both types but publishes their detail on separate pages that are not part of this archive, so the quest names, level brackets and reward tables are not reproduced here.

Expanded hunting grounds

The four hunting grounds expanded in Mu Online Season 5 Part 4
Aida, Kanturu Ruins, the Swamp of Calmness and Raklion all grew.

Four maps were opened up further, each with its own set of higher level monsters. The red outlines on the maps above mark the newly reachable ground.

Swamp of Calmness — and Medusa

Medusa appears on the Swamp of Calmness field leading her minion monsters, and her spawn time is random — there is no schedule to camp. At 7.8 million HP and 7,000–8,000 damage she was far beyond anything else on the map.

Raklion

The four Dark monsters added to Raklion in Mu Online Season 5
Raklion's northern band adds the Dark line, up to level 148.

Every monster in all four tables has 0 MP, and the tables carry no elemental or defence-success columns — this is pre-pentagram MU.
